Mr Paul Keane, Director of the School of Health & Social, said: 鈥淭he new Department of Anaesthesia is the result of successful collaboration between medical and academic colleagues in the region. We felt that such a Department was required in this area to give medical staff more immediate access to postgraduate education and research and development opportunities; and we are delighted by this new development which will complement the health and social care profile of the University.鈥
At the launch, Professor Leo Strunin, President of the Association of Anaesthetists and immediate Past-President of the Royal College of Anaesthesists, will speak about the place of academic anaesthesia in the future. Professor Dodds will speak on why the new Department has been formed and its key priorities.
