Aline Marron, Student Health Advisor/Smoking Cessation Advisor at the University said: "No Smoking Day is an annual event designed to raise awareness about stopping smoking. About 120,000 UK smokers die each year from a smoking related disease - that's about 330 people each day. Events such as this have shown there are more attempts to quit on No Smoking Day than any other day. The University aims to support this year's campaign by actively raising awareness and offering support to students and staff throughout the campus."
Students and staff can also enter a national Quit and Win competition. A 拢5,000 prize is available, in addition to regional prizes of 拢1000 if you stop smoking on 13th March and stay stopped for four weeks. For more information on National No Smoking day check the web at www.nosmokingday.org.uk
