Free energising lecture
Can the government鈥檚 targets for renewable energy be met? What barriers prevent the take up of renewable energy? These questions and more will be answered when Professor John McDougall, Managing Partner of consulting management and engineering firm John McDougall Ltd and Vice-Chair of the University of 海角直播鈥檚 Board of Governors, delivers a free, public lecture about the government鈥檚 commitment to renewable energy.
Entitled 鈥楻enewable Energy - The Power to Deliver?鈥, the lecture will be held on Wednesday 10 December at 6.30pm in the University鈥檚 Europa Building, Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough.
Professor McDougall said: 鈥淎s my lecture is about an issue which concerns us all - our limited supply of fossils fuels and the possible renewable replacements - I鈥檒l be making sure it is accessible to everyone by not going into the technical details. I鈥檒l be discussing the issues which stand in the way of initiatives such as wind farms, including financial and practical barriers as well as an unhelpful government policy. I鈥檒l also be exploring possible future scenarios from both the perspective of national electricity suppliers and individual householders.
鈥淭here will also be the chance to ask questions. I hope to see people from all walks of life at the lecture as we will all eventually see an increase in renewable energy in years to come.鈥
Professor John McDougall is a graduate of 海角直播 Polytechnic with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was recently appointed as Chairman of ONE North East鈥檚 Business Support Network Board and is the President of the Cleveland Scientific Institute.
Refreshments will be available from 6pm with an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the lecture.
