University appeal for Nightstop 海角直播

17 December 2004

The number of homeless families in England has topped 100,000 for the first time. The University of 海角直播 is helping to combat this increasing problem by launching a Christmas campaign for Nightstop 海角直播, which provides support for homeless young people, aged 16-25.

The campaign asked staff and students to donate gifts and toiletries to Nightstop 海角直播 for the Christmas period. They will be collected at 3pm on Monday 20 December by Ruth Manual, Manager of Nightstop 海角直播, and handed over by Jayne Villiers, the University鈥檚 Volunteer Co-ordinator. Jayne Villiers said: "Nightstop recently gave a presentation about their work here at the University. It was heartbreaking to see the situations that some young people find themselves in and the difficulties they face when becoming homeless. The response by both staff and students in supporting this local organisation has been fantastic."

Ruth Manual said: 鈥淲e are overwhelmed by the response from the University of 海角直播, it鈥檚 amazing. I think people are more aware and concerned about homelessness, it鈥檚 there every day, but they鈥檙e more responsive at Christmas. A huge thank you to all!鈥
