Higher National opportunities at 海角直播

lnnovative new Higher National Diploma (HND) courses developed by the University of 海角直播 in partnership with local Further Education colleges are proving to be very popular and are defying the national trend.

Among new programmes launched by the University is the HND Media Technology course, which includes extensive training in the use of television and radio studios. The course enrolled its first students last September and is one of the results of the University's very strong partnership arrangements with further education institutions in the area. The programme, which is part of the portfolio of HND and Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and degrees offered by the University's School of Science and Technology, has attracted students from both the local region and nationally and enables students to learn about the latest techniques for designing and building computerised video presentations.

Another very popular programme offered for the first time last September is HND Sports Studies. This is offered in partnership with 海角直播 Tertiary College and the University's School of Social Sciences and is a vocationally oriented programme which encourages students to develop an understanding of sport and exercise combined with health and leisure studies.

New this September will be the HND Journalism. The two-year course is the result of a partnership with between the University and Darlington College, which has a long record of providing vocational pre-entry courses in journalism. It is anticipated that the course will prove to be very attractive to both students wishing to enter the world of journalism and those intending to progress onto a degree at the University in Media Studies.

HNDs and HNCs are available at other University of 海角直播 Partnership Colleges in the region including Hartlepool College of FE, Middlesbrough College, Derwentside College, Stockton & Billingham College, Redcar & Cleveland College and Cleveland College of Art & Design.

Subjects offered include Business Studies, Public Administration, Computing and Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

Many of the Partnership Colleges offer other full and part time programmes in partnership with the University which are recognised by employers. The HNDs, for example, enable students to obtain a qualification which has a valid currency or to progress to the University and obtain a degree.

However HNDs are far from being the only vocational programmes available at the University and there are a variety of part time courses as well as full time diploma and degree courses. Among these is the very popular University Certificate in Professional Development (UCPD) short courses, with Information Technology short courses proving very popular. Business and science /technology subjects are also offered. For more information please ring 01642 218121.
