Log on and calculate

From September 2006, the University of 海角直播 will offer a generous package of bursaries and scholarships to full-time undergraduate students. And a new on-line funding calculator has been launched to give more information.

Potential students can log onto the funding calculator on the University of 海角直播鈥檚 web site. The calculator can be found at Chris Turner, the University鈥檚 Student Funding Development Officer, said: 鈥淭he calculator includes very simple questions, for example about your household income. By answering them you can find out what you will be entitled to. And if prospective students or their parents have further enquires they can contact our team of student finance advisers.鈥�

Chris, 35, from Middlesbrough, is touring sixth forms and Further Education Colleges throughout the Tees Valley, Durham and North Yorkshire, describing the bursary and scholarship package and answering all questions.

Chris added: 鈥淪ome students don鈥檛 have all the details of the package so I鈥檓 addressing that. All University education is now free at the point of delivery; no-one has to pay upfront. From September 2006, students can learn first and pay back when they are earning. We also now have the highest level of non-repayable student funding for a long time.

鈥淪tudents will only have to repay a very small amount of money, nine per cent of anything earned over 拢15,000. For example a former student earning 拢18,000 per year would pay back 拢5.19 per week.鈥�
