Motown comes to the University

The Motown story will be coming to Middlesbrough on Thursday 27 April. However, this won鈥檛 be part of a retro dance night. The University of 海角直播 is hosting a free research event, looking at the history of the internationally famous Detroit record label.

Entitled 鈥楾he Sound of Young America: Motown and 1960s Britain鈥 the research seminar will take place in Room M614, Sixth Floor, in the University鈥檚 Main Tower on Thursday 27 April from 4.15pm-6pm. It is open to the public and will be delivered by Dr Barry Doyle, Assistant Dean for Research in the School of Social Sciences & Law. Dr Doyle said: 鈥淢otown was a really important part of sixties popular culture. Unlike the politically inspired music of the hippies, it addressed everyday issues of love and loss which ordinary people could relate to.鈥
