The changing face of pubs, clubs and bars will be explored in a free public lecture at the University of 海角直播 on Wednesday 13 December, from 6.30pm 鈥 8.00pm.

Professor David Preece鈥檚 talk, entitled From a 鈥榯ipple in the local鈥 to a 鈥榪uality experience in a servicescape鈥: The changing nature of UK Public House Retailing since the late 1980s, will draw on his extensive research experience of the UK pub trade. The lecture is open to all and will be held in Room HO.01, Centuria Building, Victoria Road. Refreshments will be served from 6.00pm. The lecture will review and comment upon the key changes which have taken place in the sector since the end of the 1980s. It will compare the simple 鈥榩int in a pub鈥 approach of the past, to today鈥檚 industry where a drink is only one part of the customer experience.

Professor Preece has a long-standing interest in the UK pub trade and has a number of publications associated with this work, including Work, Change and Competition: Managing for Bass. He has also addressed conferences around the world including the Australia, France, Sweden, Hong Kong, Finland and Germany.
