Rich takes a journey into the dark unknown

By

A spacecraft lands on a seemingly-deserted planet. The craft scans the planet and discovers a giant robot, sitting on a huge carved rock throne. As the sun rises, the robot slowly comes to life.

This isn鈥檛 a storyline from BBC One鈥檚 Doctor Who. It is in fact a short computer generated animation project, entitled 鈥楧ark Unknown鈥, created by University of 海角直播 student Rich Crowe. Rich, 30, from Billingham, has recently completed his BA (Hons) in Creative Visualisation. He said: 鈥淚 left my full-time post as a web/graphic designer to gain skills for the animation industry. I returned to 海角直播 after living in Leeds for five years, due to the University鈥檚 outstanding reputation. During my course I developed amazing new skills such as 2D animation and 3D modelling and used these for several commercial websites. 鈥楧ark Unknown鈥 is a prologue to a larger-scale idea I鈥檝e been developing.

鈥淭he degree was everything I wanted and more. There were so many modules to choose from that I rarely worked with the same people, so this gave me lots of techniques and lots of exposure to different ideas. The quality of my classmates and the commitment of the teachers were fantastic.鈥
