The course fee is 拢22.50, with concessions available. Participants will be able to use the University's facilities, including the library and its high-tech learning resources. Successful students will get a University Certificate and credits towards a degree or diploma course if they wish to progress to full programmes of study.
The Football History course is part of a new Progression Pathways Project by the Middlesbrough-based university and its Further Education and Sixth Form College partners in the region. The Workers' Education Association and the region's Careers Service are also involved.
Pauline Lynn, from the University's Centre for Lifelong Learning, says: "We have support from both the Further Education Funding Council and Higher Education Funding Council for England for our new Outreach Programme. Courses are being offered in a wide range of areas - from Football History to Women's Studies and Information Technology. So far the most popular courses have been held at Church House, Ingleby Barwick, and the South Bank Women's Centre, but we will be broadening the number of Outreach Centres as we add more short courses."
