º£½ÇÖ±²¥ in top two

We are one of the UK’s top two modern universities, according to a national student survey.

The Student Experience Survey, commissioned by The Times Higher Education magazine and published this week, collated responses from full-time undergraduates at 101 UK higher education institutions. The survey aims to show which universities offer the best all-round student experience and ranks everything from teaching quality to social life.

º£½ÇÖ±²¥ was ranked in the top 25 UK higher education institutions nationally, and second among the modern universities. The students themselves selected the attributes that they felt most important to them, resulting in 22 diverse categories.

The University of º£½ÇÖ±²¥ scored highly for:

• High-quality facilities
• Good Students’ Union
• Centralised/convenient facilities
• Good library and library opening hours
• I would recommend my University to a friend.

Professor Graham Henderson, º£½ÇÖ±²¥â€™s Vice-Chancellor, said: ‘I’m really delighted and proud of this endorsement by our students. We place a major priority on the quality of the overall student experience and it is hugely encouraging to see such a positive response. All of us at the University are determined to build on this success for the future.’

A really good student experience
Mark Gillespie, Students’ Union Communications Officer, said: ‘The results of the Times Higher survey are another indicator of the excellent progress the University is making in a range of areas and the Students’ Union is delighted to partner them in this. We’re particularly pleased to see facilities, opening hours and the Students’ Union rated highly as we know how integral all of these things are to a really good student experience, something the University is undoubtedly providing.’

Liz Jolly, Director of Library & Information Services, said: ‘This survey builds on the excellent score for our library facilities in last year’s influential National Student Survey. Our staff are committed to delivering high quality services to our students and The Times Higher’s survey is further confirmation that these services are highly valued by our students.’
