Rise to the challenge

The Students’ Union has laid down a challenge to members of various clubs and societies to raise as much as they can for Children in Need on Friday.

Students from the 90 active clubs and societies are set to compete to see who can raise the most money. The challenge is just part of a day of fun filled activities organised by the Raise and Give (RAG) Society at the Students’ Union, which will also include a fundraising cake stall, a sing-a-long, courtesy of the Netball Club and a charity waxing, courtesy of the Men’s Football Club.

The RAG Society is made up from student volunteers keen to raise funds for charity and good causes throughout the year with various fundraising activities.

Aiming for the best ever Jenny Gill, Chair of the RAG Society, said: ‘It’s such a great cause and when you add the element of competition, we’re confident loads of students from clubs and societies will want to get involved. We’re hoping to make it the biggest and best fundraiser for Children In Need that the University has ever seen.’

Nat Broom, Student Activities Officer, added: ‘I’m incredibly proud of the tireless work that the RAG Society do to raise funds for charity. The volunteers involved give up so much of their own time and really show that not only are students here to work hard and play hard, they are also keen to help others out while doing so.’
