Chris left Laurence Jackson School in 1995, and joined Prior Pursglove Sixth Form College, Guisborough where he gained four excellent A Levels marks, including an A in Economics. Chris felt that it was a natural progression to go on to study for a degree in Accounting, and staying local was his best option.
He said: “The degree course covered a wide range of subjects, and I particularly enjoyed the Business Studies and Revenue Law modules. I think students are given a choice whether they want to work hard or not, and I decided to do my absolute best. I am shocked but delighted to receive two prizes, as there were other equally good students. But obviously I am over the moon.
He is the first in the family to do a degree, and so everyone is particularly proud. His mother, Denise, will be attending the Academic Awards ceremony today at Middlesbrough Town Hall, at which Chris will be awarded his prize money, totalling £300. Chris said he will be putting the prize money towards a deposit for a new car
Chris said: “I was impressed with the University’s Learning Resource Centre, and found it a good place to study. The facilities are improving all the time. I chose º£½ÇÖ±²¥ because of the recommendations of some friends.
