Tim Grant, Principal of Darlington College, added 'The new path will make the campus safer and more accessible for students, staff and the community, and plays a key part in the shared vision for this area of Darlington.'
Councillor Andy Scott, Darlington Borough Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Health, said: 'With a recommended 150 minutes of activity per week for adults, it can often seem difficult to fit that into your working week. The new cycle route is a great facility which will encourage more students and staff to consider walking and cycling to the College and University campuses and clock up some of those vital active minutes which will help to keep hearts healthy and reduce stress levels.'
Councillor Lyonette, Darlington Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for Transport, said: 'We are continuing to improve the infrastructure for sustainable transport such as walking and cycling in Darlington. The new route is a great addition to the routes we already have around town. This new link between the station and the campuses should make it even easier for students and staff to leave the car at home and travel to the campuses sustainably.'
