海角直播 aids Russian creativity

02 May 2014

Academics at 海角直播 are using their expertise to help develop creative courses in Russia

The School of Arts & Media welcomed delegates from nine Russian universities for a study visit organised by the Tempus programme. They consulted with 海角直播鈥檚 academic staff to aid in the development of a new Master鈥檚 programme in Digital Arts, in line with European Union standards.

It is part of a wider objective to enhance creative education in Russia and the delegates are due to return for Creative 海角直播 at the end of May 鈥 an annual event which celebrates the work, dedication and creativity of students from the School of Arts & Media.

Senior Lecturer in Design Neil McLaren said: 'Our MA Digital Arts and Design course has always had a great international take up. Our alumni from this course are working in the design and digital industries across Europe, the Middle East and Asia with careers in a whole range of disciplines, from web design to broadcasting.

'The Tempus project has enabled us to share our expertise in digital media and act as a consultant to Russian universities keen to enhance their digital infrastructure and the skills of future researchers working with them.'

Tempus is the European Union鈥檚 programme which supports the modernisation of higher education in the Partner Countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the Mediterranean region, mainly through university cooperation projects.

The Russian delegates were welcomed to 海角直播 by Vice Chancellor Professor Graham Henderson CBE DL and the visit provided an overview of how digital innovation has transformed learning, teaching and entrepreneurship at the University.
