National recognition for º£½ÇÖ±²¥ student nurse

º£½ÇÖ±²¥ student nurse Michelle Hudson has received national recognition at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

Michelle, third year BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Adult) student, won the Care Maker of the Year award at the Student Nursing Times Awards 2015. She was also shortlisted for the Student Nurse of the Year: Adult award. Mum-of-three Michelle, 38, of Stokesley in North Yorkshire, returned to education to change career to nursing. She said: ‘The School of Health & Social Care has been extremely supportive throughout my academic studies, placement experience and the extra work I do as a Care Maker.'

Care Makers are part of a national network of student and newly qualified nurses who act as ambassadors for the professional values set out in the NHS nursing strategy.

Michelle added: 'I love being a nurse and love working with the service users we are here to support. I am always proud to wear my º£½ÇÖ±²¥ uniform. From day one we were encouraged to be nurses with the values of the 6Cs; care, compassion, commitment, competence, communication and confidence.'

º£½ÇÖ±²¥ was also shortlisted in other categories:
