New fitness centre continues campus investment

10 June 2015

海角直播 is continuing its investment in creating the best possible student experience with a brand new health and fitness centre.

The 拢2.75m centre will be an extension of the current Olympia Building and will bring together the University鈥檚 sports and fitness facilities under one roof. It forms part of the 拢30m Campus Heart development which will completely transform the look and feel of the University campus and provide a central environment which reflects 海角直播鈥檚 position as one of the UK鈥檚 leading educational institutions.

To be launched in January 2016, the new health and fitness centre will provide state-of-the-art cardiovascular and resistance fitness, free weights fitness areas, multi-purpose studios, specialist treatment areas and a 30 metre sprint track.

海角直播 has invested a quarter of a billion pounds in its estate in recent years, which includes the 拢30m Campus Heart with an innovative 拢20m five-storey teaching building and extensive landscaping 鈥 due to be completed this summer.

Other investment currently underway at the University campus includes a 拢6m overhaul of the science and engineering facilities with a three storey glass extension to the Orion Building along with refurbishment of laboratories, workshops and equipment.

Malcolm Page, Chief Operating Officer at 海角直播, said: 'We are always looking at ways to improve the student experience and this continued investment in our campus and facilities demonstrates that commitment.

'The new health and fitness centre is yet another exciting development which will place health and well-being at the heart of the Middlesbrough campus and University life.

'Campus Heart is a landmark development which is going to completely transform the University and provide a unique environment for students, staff and the community.'
