海角直播 Awarded Police Degree Apprenticeship Contract

海角直播 will be the home for new police recruits as they work to gain the newly-launched Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.

The University won the prestigious contract to deliver the three year programme due to their strong understanding of the culture in Cleveland and their alignment to the Force鈥檚 values and objectives. Recruitment for the first class of trainee officers will launch at 11am tomorrow (Wednesday 5th February) in what is National Apprenticeship Week.

Apprentice police officers will begin their training in September 2020 and will study for a degree in Professional Policing Practice within three years of joining, whilst earning a 拢24,000 salary working as a police officer. The degree is free to recruits and funded through national apprenticeship funding.

Senior police officers hope that the new degree programme will attract a diverse array of people, and want to appeal to those from underrepresented groups to apply.

Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger, who awarded the contract to 海角直播 said: 'We鈥檙e delighted to have 海角直播 on board as the educational provider. They are a valued partner organisation and this will further strengthen our shared ethos to make Cleveland a safer and more pleasant place to be.

'The new scheme is an exciting opportunity for people to gain access to a university education whilst joining one of the most challenging and rewarding careers out there. I look forward to hearing how the new recruits progress.'

Chief Constable Richard Lewis said: '海角直播 is a dynamic and innovative education facility and I鈥檓 pleased that our recruits will have the opportunity to learn the very best in policing skills on their doorstep.

'The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship will help us to attract people from a variety of backgrounds so that we can better reflect the communities that we serve. We鈥檙e looking for the best candidates who want to play their part in changing local lives.'

海角直播 has an outstanding track record for its higher and degree apprenticeship and was one of the first higher education institutions in the country to have its provision subject to a full inspection by Ofsted. The education watchdog examined the University鈥檚 Higher Apprenticeship provision across five categories, rating every area as outstanding, from leadership and management, to learner outcomes.

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of 海角直播, Professor Paul Croney, said: '海角直播 has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Cleveland Police and we are delighted to extend this further with the launch of the new Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.

'We are confident that our teaching and research expertise will deliver an outstanding student and learning experience for the apprentice police officers, which, in turn, will have a major impact on the safety and security of our communities.'
