Let鈥檚 work together is the message from CBI President

Regional business leaders heard the CBI President urge the Chancellor to 鈥榞o for growth鈥 at a partnership event jointly delivered by 海角直播 International Business School.

Speaking at the event, attended by dozens of senior business figures, Lord Bilimoria celebrated the role of North East firms in combating the pandemic, as well as highlighting opportunities for future growth. And, in a speech delivered as the Chancellor unveiled his Autumn Budget, the CBI President urged the Chancellor to 鈥榣eave no stone unturned鈥 in the search for growth and called on the Government to seize the moment by investing in UK potential, delivering levelling-up and a decarbonisation revolution.

Crossbench peer Lord Bilimoria said: 鈥淭he past 18 months have challenged this region and others like never before. For so many firms, the priority has been survival. But we鈥檝e also seen incredible acts of collaboration, innovation and selflessness across the business community.

鈥淏ut serious challenges remain. As the world switches back on, there鈥檚 been a demand crunch for gas, alongside disruptions to supply that鈥檚 led to energy prices skyrocketing. A perfect storm of Brexit and Covid has intensified labour shortages. Global supply chains are being squeezed to their limits.

鈥淥ur message to Government is this: let鈥檚 unite and succeed together 鈥 working with business as a trusted delivery partner and providing concrete plans that incentivise investment.鈥

鈥淚n the last century, this region was at the forefront of advancing the UK鈥檚 global, industrial success. And it鈥檚 ambitious and committed to lead once again.

鈥淣ow is the time for us to work together, make those big moves, and equip the Tees Valley and the wider North-East, its businesses and all those who live and work here, to compete and succeed.鈥

Lord Bilimoria was speaking at a CBI event at Crathorne Hall which was jointly organised by 海角直播 International Business School and was attended by leading business figures from the region.

Warren Harrison, Dean of 海角直播 International Business School, said: 鈥淲e are extremely proud of our partnership work with the CBI and the opportunity to collaborate on business events such as this is vital.

鈥淚t was fantastic to hear from Lord Bilimoria on the great work businesses in our region are doing and how we can all work together to support growth.

鈥淭hat ethos is mirrored by the work of our Business School and we are committed to working in collaboration to strengthen our economy, provide opportunities and deliver excellence.鈥
