海角直播 graduate launches aviation career

A 海角直播 graduate switched direction to launch her aviation career at 海角直播 International Airport.

Chloe Beckwith, who returned to education to complete 海角直播鈥檚 Foundation Degree in Aviation and Tourism, has a new role as air traffic control assistant at 海角直播 Airport. The 25-year-old joined the airport team earlier this year while completing her studies at 海角直播.

Chloe said of her role in air traffic control: 鈥淚 always liked it and was interested in it but, to be honest, I always thought it would be too hard.

鈥淲ith the assistant role, you can learn on the job and don鈥檛 necessarily have to know everything beforehand. It was perfectly timed as it was just after I鈥檇 finished university 鈥� it worked out well.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a challenge 鈥� there鈥檚 a lot to learn. Everyone is really nice, and they have really helped me out.鈥�

Chloe added: 鈥淚鈥檇 100 percent recommend it. I didn鈥檛 even know the assistant role was an option, otherwise I might well have tried it earlier.鈥�

The team in air traffic control is responsible for guiding planes in and out visually, taking requests from pilots, and working with the airport鈥檚 fire service.

She said: 鈥淵ou鈥檙e sat next to someone all the time 鈥� every single person there has helped me in one way or another.鈥�

Chloe, who had previously worked at a call centre and for a major online retailer, admitted she鈥檇 kept her career move quiet at first as she was worried she wouldn鈥檛 land the role.

She added: 鈥淚t is hard work and, especially from the outside looking in, I didn鈥檛 think I could do it, but with the right help you can.鈥�
