海角直播

Free homecoming screening of award-winning documentary

海角直播 is hosting a special screening of an acclaimed feature-length documentary directed by social work lecturer Dr Rachel Taparjan.

Something Familiar follows Dr Taparjan, who was adopted from Romania as a baby, as she embarks on an international search for her birth family alongside a fellow adoptee. Their journey uncovers long buried truths and explores adoption, identity, trauma and resilience.

The documentary won the Chicken & Egg Vision Award at Cannes Docs 2025 and is currently touring the international festival circuit.

It is returning to 海角直播 for this special screening followed by an intimate Q&A session with director Dr Rachel Taparjan and trauma specialist Dr Lisa Cherry.

Dr Taparjan said: 鈥淏ringing this film back to 海角直播 feels incredibly meaningful; so much of my journey, both personal and professional, has been shaped here.

鈥Something Familiar began as a search for answers, but it became a story about connection and courage.

鈥淚 hope audiences leave feeling seen, moved and reminded that our histories don鈥檛 have to define our futures.鈥

The Something Familiar screening takes place on Saturday 23 May, 4.00pm 鈥 7.00pm, in 海角直播鈥檚 state-of-the-art Digital Life building.
