Career in academia beckons for 海角直播 graduate Eve

Eve Fitzgerald aims to continue her academic journey at 海角直播 from postgraduate study to beyond.

MSc Forensic Psychology graduate Eve, 24, from Middlesbrough, previously completed an undergraduate degree in psychology. She said: 鈥淒uring the final year of my undergraduate course at 海角直播, I had the opportunity to complete two optional modules, one of which was in forensic psychology. I had always held a fascination for forensics and completing the module reinforced this interest.

鈥淚 knew I wanted to remain in academia after my undergraduate studies, and this felt like the right next step for me. Also, the Forensic Psychology Stage 1 certification allowed me to keep my options open regarding my career.

鈥淗aving decided on a master鈥檚 in forensic psychology I found 海角直播 to be one of the only universities in the region to offer the course at the time. This, coupled with the discount offered to students staying on at 海角直播 after an undergraduate degree, made continuing at 海角直播 the logical next step.

鈥淚 really enjoyed having the opportunity develop a professional understanding in a subject that I had a genuine interest in.鈥

Eve is now setting her sights on a PhD in the field of forensic psychology, with the aim of pursuing a career in research and academia.

鈥淢y course really helped to further my passion for forensic psychology and confirm it was the right field of study for me,鈥 said Eve. 鈥淚 also completed research assistant roles during my time at the university which helped me to gain valuable experience working in academia.

鈥淚 found the postgraduate space in The Buttery to be a really great place to study. My favourite memory from my master鈥檚 is the sense of achievement I felt when I handed in my thesis after months of hard work. It鈥檚 challenging, but it鈥檚 worth it.鈥
