A Dickensian degree project from Robert

07 August 2001

Robert Lonsdale has explored the world of television and theatre set design and costume, courtesy of his BA (Hons) degree in Entertainment Design Crafts. The BA degree is taught at the Hartlepool Campus of Cleveland College of Art & Design, and validated by the University of 海角直播.

Robert, 23, from Barlby Selby, North Yorkshire, achieved his degree in July. Previously he gained a Higher National Diploma in Theatre and Television Design from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside. He said: 鈥淚鈥檝e always wanted to work in theatre design ever since I studied at York College. I鈥檓 hoping to work in the area of set or costume design now as I really enjoy these. My parents Andrea and Peter have always been behind me in my career choice.鈥

Robert鈥檚 final year project focused on Charles Dickens鈥 novel Oliver Twist. He designed a model set made of timber and card, to be used in a fictitious animation of the Victorian novel. Robert said: 鈥淥liver Twist was one of the few films and books I really enjoyed as a child. I鈥檝e got fond memories of watching the film in past Christmases.鈥
